PoP_sp_MillmanLiving On Purpose – The Peaceful Warrior’s Way with Dan Millman – Author of “Way of the Peaceful Warrior,” “The Life You Were Born to Live” and many more … This yearning for a sense of purpose, the desire to make our lives count for something, and the quest for a clear direction, are a central facet of Dan Millman’s work and three books of original thought on the subject.

PoP_sp_PlotkinHow to Cultivate the Two Kinds of Life Purpose: Societal and Soulful with Bill Plotkin – Founder of the Animus Valley Institute – Societal purpose is embodied in vocation, social or religious role, or community service. Soul purpose, on the other hand, is mystical — our unique mythopoetic place in the web of life. Discovery of soul purpose is the goal of the initiatory journey.

PoP_sp_WilberFinding Purpose on the Integral Path with Ken Wilber – Founder of the Integral Institute and author of over 25 books:  Join one of the world’s most recognized and respected living philosophers for an exploration of the two major ways to approach purpose — through our consciousness structures (multiple intelligences) and our consciousness states (our awakening path).

Dan Millman

is a former world champion athlete, university coach, martial arts instructor, and college professor.

After an intensive, twenty-year spiritual quest, Dan’s teaching found its form as the Peaceful Warrior’s Way, expressed fully in his books and lectures. His work continues to evolve over time, to meet the needs of a changing world.

Much of Dan’s time is devoted to writing and speaking. His keynotes, seminars, and workshops span the generations to influence men and women from all walks of life, including leaders in the fields of health, psychology, education, business, politics, sports, entertainment, and the arts.

joshgorman95Frederick95Ashanti95Stoking the Fires of Purpose in Youth: A ‘How To’ Guide for Empowering Young Change Makers with Ashanti Branch (left) – Founder of the Ever Forward Club, featured in the break-through film “The Masks You Live In,” Frederick Marx  (center) – Oscar Nominated Filmmaker of “Hoop Dreams,” creator of the “Rites of Passage” film series, and Joshua Gorman (right) – Founder of Generation Waking Up. For many of us, one of the most urgent questions facing our society is how to help the next generation overcome the failures of our shared past…and thrive into the future. These three highly conscious men from very different backgrounds have a powerful story to share about mentoring, empowering leaders, rites of passage, and succeeding in the face of hardship. Don’t miss this extraordinary conversation.

Ashanti Branch

began mentoring when he was 17 years old growing up in Oakland, CA. After participating in the Mathematics, Engineering and Science Achievement Program (MESA), Ashanti attended Cal Poly San Luis Obispo to study civil engineering. After working in Corporate America for 5 years the deeply rooted passion to educate took over and Ashanti returned to school to become a high school math teacher. In 2004, during his first year teaching math at San Lorenzo High School, Ashanti founded The Ever Forward Club to directly support the young men of color who were failing classes. In 2006 the program added support circles for young women.

Ashanti was awarded a Fulbright Fellowship in 2007 to teach math in India. This experience ignited in him a deeper trust that students who are held to high expectations, and provided with strong support, can achieve academic success regardless of the odds they face. Since 2009, Ashanti has worked with several rites of passage organizations to initiate young men along their journey to manhood and has supported over 50 young men to complete their initiation. Ever Forward hopes to be a part of the development of a Rites of Passage initiation for urban youth.

As Ever Forward celebrates its 10 year anniversary, the organization will be featured in a documentary from The Representation Project coming in 2014 called The Mask You Live In. The Organization is working to raise capital to bring the program to scale. In addition to his work with Ever Forward, Ashanti is currently the Assistant Principal at a middle school in Oakland, CA.
